Why it quotes instead of answering
There is no language model behind this box. It searches 2,021 passages — the follow-ups from every entry’s Interviewer’s Next Move, each 45-second answer, and the body prose — and shows you the best match, word for word. The search runs in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere.
That is a deliberate limit rather than a missing feature. Every code example on this site is compiled and run on every deploy precisely so that what you read is checked. A model writing fluent answers over the top of that would be able to state, convincingly, a version detail or a threshold that no page here ever verified — and you would have no way to tell which sentences were which. Quoting keeps the guarantee intact.
The cost is that it cannot rephrase, cannot follow an argument across two entries, and cannot answer what nobody has written yet. When it has nothing good, it says so. If that happens on a question worth covering, the question bank shows what is planned and what is already written.
